Description
The historic Charlotte Dunhill Hotel in Uptown, originally opened as the Mayfair Manor in 1929, is one of North Carolina’s members of Historic Hotels of America and one of its first luxury establishments. Designed by architect Louis Asbury, Sr., the Historic Dunhill opened in Charlotte in 1929 as the fashionable Mayfair Manor apartment hotel. Half of the original 100 rooms were rented by permanent tenants and it thrived even during the Great Depression. Upon its completion, its singular architecture and powering presence added immeasurably to the city’s skyline.
